Publicis Groupe Belgium strengthens its focus on PR and Influencers under the leadership of Astrid Mattelaer
Being culturally and socially relevant is more crucial than ever for brands in 2023. Keeping a close eye on trends and capitalizing on them is the key to success for many impactful campaigns. There are no better tools to achieve this than through PR and influencer marketing. Publicis Groupe Belgium recognizes this and is now doubling down on PR and influencers. To accomplish this mission, Publicis Groupe recently welcomed Astrid Mattelaer as their PR & Influencer Lead.
With this move, Astrid Mattelaer officially bids farewell to the WPP Group. In recent years, she was part of the PR team at Ogilvy Social.Lab before making the transition to Famous Relations in early 2020, where she served as Senior PR Manager. In this role, she acted as the client lead responsible for PR and influencer campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola and Philips.
Regarding her new adventure at Publicis Groupe, she said:
"What immediately appealed to me about Publicis Groupe is the description of the business model and the company's culture as 'people-obsessed.' In a context where we increasingly reduce everything to numbers and dry results, Publicis resolutely chooses a different path that focuses on the power of humanity - without losing sight of strong outcomes. And that's precisely what PR and Influence are all about: making connections and having a positive impact."
By expanding their in-house PR and influencer department, Publicis Groupe demonstrates their commitment to investing in relevant expertise to inspire both new and existing clients and offer a fully integrated approach.
"2023 has already been a fantastic year for us, partly because we were named 'Media Agency of the Year' and received the 'Great Place to Work' recognition for the second consecutive time. We also see that continuing to invest in people and in-depth expertise pays off. For instance, our content department has grown into a team of over 20 talented content specialists in just a few years, and we've onboarded many new clients. By further emphasizing earned media through PR and structurally expanding our influence department, we aim to continue this positive trend" said Karel Vinck, co-CEO of Publicis Groupe.

Publicis Groupe, as a Great Place To Work, pushes well-being to the limit, by asking their employees to rest.
In the advertising sector, 82% of people regularly do over-time, leading to high stress levels - and almost ¾ of the people working in advertising are stressed at work.* On top of that 1-in-3 Belgians sleep badly and 20% suffer from chronic insomnia.**
Publicis Groupe Belgium, holders of the certified Great Place To Work label for 2 times in a row, has the last 5 years worked hard on creating a company culture aimed at ‘shaping progress’, for people, brands and the world. Their obsession with all aspects of human welfare makes the company unique.
With this campaign, Publicis Groupe Belgium shows that it has the ambition to create a mental shift in the advertising sector by bringing to life a culture embracing relaxation and rest.
In our sector the balance is leaning towards 'do' and 'go' and '24/7', but that does not benefit people or the work. We want to restore the balance by encouraging our people to always plan in relaxation after an effort. Not an easy task when you know that famous CEOs and world leaders claim that they only need a few hours of sleep. Minimal sleep is seen as 'cool' and a sign of success, but Dali, Da Vinci, Einstein, Aristotles and Frida Kahlo proved long ago that rest and breaks lead to ground-breaking ideas. So, it's crazy that we work ourselves to death and have come to see 'busy' as a form of success. It is high time to turn the tide and that is why we call on all our employees to schedule in rest, just like top athletes do.
During the week of November 21, various activities are planned around rest, ranging from a conversation with Olympic champion Bashir Abdi about 'the value of rest' to an interactive session with sleep expert Jana Maes, about how you can stop that eternal worrying during the night. Various rest experiences are also planned, yes also massages and relaxing sound sessions. More information on this link. Bliss!

Panos chooses for Publicis Groupe & De Vloer
Panos and Deliway, the Store Concept part of the La Lorraine Bakery Group, the largest industrial bakery of the country and still fully privately owned, begins a collaboration with De Vloer as new creative/strategic agency and with Publicis Groupe as media partner. The two selection processes happened in parallel, with guidance by PitchPoint for the creative/strategic agency selection and with guidance by fma Belgium for the media ditto. De Vloer replaces existing agency Amphion. After more than 9 years of rewarding collaboration in expanding the brand Panos to its current position, the team chose to write a new chapter on top of this strong foundation. Publicis Groupe replaces digital media agency S1.
Erwin Van der Weerden, Marketing Director of the Panos & Deliway Business Unit, is satisfied:
‘’We are facing an important period for Panos and Deliway and both selections fill the final pieces of the puzzle in our process. Both De Vloer and Publicis Groupe emphasised the correct touch points and convinced the entire Store Concept team. It is now up to them to translate our long-term strategy into media and creation in collaboration with our marketing team. We are very much looking forward to the collaboration!"
Both parties begin with immediate effect.

Publicis Groupe Benelux will work on Eneco’s brand positioning and associated cross-media campaigns within the Netherlands and Belgium. Eneco, which wants to accelerate the energy transition with its ambition 'climate neutral by 2035', finds in Publicis Groupe the right partner because of the agency's drive, creative power and data-based approach.
"Eneco launched an ambitious climate plan in 2021 to be climate neutral already in 2035, including in the energy customers receive. We have aligned the brand positioning with this ambition and that includes a new distinctive campaign. Culture, wellbeing, burn-out and future of work are trending hashtags on LinkedIn and all sorts of work-related platforms. AutoVision Festival: “Millboard” as big winner
Since inventing the car in 1886, Mercedes-Benz has been fighting the wind. Thanks to one of their many sustainability initiatives, they'll soon be working in partnership. To celebrate this news - and the incredible beauty of the wind - we’ve created this film, together with our sister agency Publicis Groupe Netherlands, called “Millboard”.
“Millboard” won multiple awards at the AutoVision Awards*: Gold in Social Media & Short videos and Silver in the online video category. But to top it all, “Millboard” won the most prestigious award of the festival; Grand Prix for best film! This is the official statement from the AutoVision Jury on our Grand Prix:
This year, Mercedes-Benz was deservedly awarded the coveted Grand Prix trophy for the film “Mercedes-Benz and the wind” by the production company MJZ and the agency Publicis and prevailed among all submitted productions. The jury justified the decision with the following statement: “A beautifully crafted piece of film that tells an important story in a really compelling way. The dramatic, beautiful imagery pulls you in slowly while the evocative soundtrack holds interest, culminating in a powerfully simple message. Great.”
* AutoVision Awards is the international creative festival for corporate films, commercials, TV programs, websites as well as interactive and multimedia productions exclusively for the automotive and mobility industries.

Publicis Groupe is the first Belgian agency to become Great Place To Work® Certified™
Five years ago, we had a dream and a vision: to build a new agency with a unique culture. An agency committed to personal growth. A happy shelter where great minds can produce fantastic work because they are encouraged to think differently. We wanted to prove that taking good care of people leads to higher client satisfaction and greater business results.
We were determined to demonstrate that there are other roads to success besides the ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality that rules our industry. An industry in which 73% of employees suffer from stress and 1 in 4 employees has mental health issues. As a result, young creative talents are no longer interested in advertising careers. And talent is our most important asset.
We decided to change the rules and fully commit ourselves to the well-being and personal growth of our employees.
THE RESULTS OF OUR INNOVATIVE APPROACH?
We've hired 75 new talents, our employee engagement score has reached 76%, client satisfaction has gone up by 20% and we are seeing a significant growth in business. But most importantly, our people label us as a 'Great Place To Work®'.
The independent, international organisation Great Place To Work® Institute and Vlerick Business School want to help companies create great workplaces. Publicis Groupe Belgium registered for the survey for the first time and immediately earned the right to call itself a 'Great Place To Work®'.
We are very proud of this extraordinary result, which stimulates us to dream even bigger. We will keep challenging everyone, including ourselves, while continuing to focus on meaningful and positive progress for all.
